The server-based version of ThinkingTogether.org began in 2004 as an attempt to use
server-based technologies to facilitate collaborative teaching, writing, and thinking.

Moving from its hosted shell/VMS account to a P3 desktop running Windows 2000 IIS,
it has run on Windows Servers, Apple/Unix machines, and now runs on a virtual host running Linux.

ThinkingTogether has evolved, often well after the curve, but always in search of an
aesthethic response to the susbtantial challenge of thinking and learning in a shared digital environment.

From grad school to post-doc and beyond, ThinkingTogether.org has served as a testbed for
technology-centered approaches to teaching, research, writing, thinking, and learning.
